Listen to Our Future Inc. is a youth empowerment program that provides educational services. The organization is inspired by social movements and aims to ensure that youth voices are at the center of social change. Our founders, Lillian Barkes and Brandon Street created a BIPOC-led 501(c)(3) organization to educate youth and allow them to be change-makers. ​Through our programs, we focus on fostering leadership and creating opportunities for youth to engage meaningfully with their communities.

We believe that social action happens when people feel empowered to turn their ideas into action. This empowerment comes from our life experiences and education. At Listen to Our Future Inc., we focus on helping youth use what they've learned and experienced to make a real difference in their communities. By combining personal empowerment with collective effort, we work towards creating lasting social change.
 

In 2023, only 22% of students in Indianapolis achieved grade-level proficiency in reading and math. While we all strive for a brighter future, systemic inequities in education and resources create barriers to meaningful, lasting change. These disparities contribute to a society where potential is undervalued, leaving many feeling hopeless.
